Hello All,
I am a professional photographer. I currently use Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 4.1. I am in the process of having a new computer built just for editing my photography. The board will be an ASUS P9X79 with an intel Core i7-3820 and 16 GB memory. The technician would like a recommendation of the best graphics card for editing still images.
All of my work is done in RAW from a 5D MII. 21 megapixel.
Processing speed has always been a bottleneck for me.
Can anyone please recommend the best graphics card for this system?
Thank you, Jim
Here is a note from Noel C. from yesterday
At this moment, if I were buying a new graphics card for my own PC workstation, it would be an ATI Radeon HD 7750 or 7850 (depending on budget; they're about $100 and $200 respectively).
I don't know if Apple offers either of those models, nor whether they work well on a Mac. I'm really only expert on the PC side.

And he would recommend a massive SSD raid C: drive for all your files.
Interesting Noel said 7750. I have that card and have had conversations with him about it.
I can strongly recommend it for CS6 tasks. Be sure you buy a card with 1G GDDR5and update the driver to 12.6.
It has a power saving feature as well, or at least, mine does.
Here's a screen shot of the card's numbers:
