Forms - make file size smaller

Hello,

 

I'd like to know if there is a way to decrease the size of an Adobe PDF with a fillable form? I have forms on an A4 page with mostly text on it and their size is around 400 kb without forms / form fields and increases to around 800 kb with the form and fields. There are no advanced functions just fields that can be filled out and saved in Acrobat and Acrobat Reader.

 

Any hints or tipps what I can do to come down to let's say 500 kb again?

    Did you do a simple SAVE AS PDF? This is needed to reclaim space.

    All fonts used have to be fully embedded, so this adds space; beware of using big fonts or multiple fonts or styles.

    I opened my finished PDF form in Acrobat X Pro and saved it by "Save as PDF..." and the file size did not change at all. Hmmm.

    All Fonts are embedded but we DO use our company fonts in different variations and styles. For the form fields we just use "Arial".

    So it's the fonts that eat up more than half of the file size. What is "Document Overhead"? How can I reduce these two "space consumers"?

    I doubt you will reduce that very much. Over 400K is a complete embedded copy of Arial. Consider using Helvetica (a 'magic' font which won't be embedded) instead.
