Can;t preview php files localy on Mac

Good day. I usually do my web development on a pc and recently move some files to the mac. Now when in dreamweaver and i do "browse in firefox", firefox prompts me to save the php file instead of previewing it. It previews it only on safari. Can anyone help. I am on a Mac pro using OSX Lion 10.7.4. Help!!!!

What testing server have you installed on your Mac? Is it running? PHP are processed files and require a server to process them so you will need to have your local server running.

I have tried mamp but i have no idea how to set this up. One question? How come i can preview the php files locally in safari and not chrome or firefox?
