HI Can anyone tell me if I am able to export a 32page document in indesign into individual spreads as indesign documents...???
The google is a wonderful thing. This came from another post on this forum:
Loic Aigon offers free script for it - Pages Extractor:
http://www.loicaigon.com/en/auto.php
frankly, didn't tested it myself...
sorry umm... the actual script doesnt work here is the error message
JavaScript Error!
Error Number: 24
Error String: app.locale.tolLocaleName is not a function
Engine:main
FileC;\.....Adobe\Indesign\Version 7.0\en_GB\Scripts\Scripts Panel\extractpages.jsx
Line: 87
Source: String.L1ON = File(app.activeScript).
Could it be something to with the version of Indesign im running? Also a quick question regarding the script does it preserve page numbering (set up via a master)...?
The web page says "CS3/CS4", but usually scripts also work on later versions -- you don't mention it, but from your path name I understand you are using CS5.
Hmm.. sounds like Loic needs to answer that for you. Don't worry, he's around *somewhere*. If he doesn't see this discussion, you can always try sending him a P.M. through this forum.
There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with this workflow.
Is your catalog already imposed into printer's spreads? Exporting reader's spreads for printing is a complete waste of everyone's time.
Furthermore, it is the printer's job to to impose your file to fit his equipment, and to do that he needs individual pages. The "normal" prcedure on a job like this would be to export a complete PDF as one file of individual pages.

sorry the printers will also be repro-ing the pages this is why they must stay in indesign format
What does that mean? Printers always "repro" pages -- that's what a print is -- a reproduction. If this printer cannot handle a PDF you should probably be looking for another printer, but if that isn't an option, File > Package... and send the whole thing. I don't see how inidividual spreads helps.
I feel like we have digressed from the actual problem....
I need to split a 32 page document into 16 individual indesign spreads... and the script isnt functioning correctly due to me having a newer version of indesign so i understand i can download something called MAKEITRUN...which i cannot find a download that works.... also i understand someone has already tried this and that it doesnt fully work either even after installing MAKEITRUN....
also the reason they are being repro-ed is because i dont hold any of the hi res imagery they hold it all there which they link up and then produce hi res PDFs...
The script runs fine here if I put it in a "Version 6.0 Scripts" (without the quotes) subfolder in the scripts panel folder. It won't help you much, though. It doesn't have an option to take a large range and extract spreads -- it's either the whole range or individual pages. It would be just as fast to make 16 copies of the file and delete the pages you don't want fom each copy.
