Hi all, I am strating out designing in illustrator and I need help on how to created a stroked line, -----------, with each stroke ( - ) a different colour, like, each stroke having a different randomized color which differs from the next one.
Also, I need help on how to mask out parts of a template given to me by my school so i dont infringe that boundary when I add my lines to it. All helps appreciated, thank you.
Could you post a screenshot?
As for randomizing Stroke colors I suspect that may need Scripting.

Object > Clipping Mask?
But I may misunderstand, so could you please post a screenshot to clarify?
What kind of screenshots do you need? I am u able to replicate what I want on Adobe Illustrator. Ok more info, I wanna decorate a car with a design of which is composed of the stroked lines, like paths. I can use illustrator to make the black hyphens but what i want is I want the black hyphen to randomise its color, like for eg (- - - - , the first stroke is yellow, second is red, third is green, fourth is blue etcetc) I wanna draw it directly on my design using a pad. Anyone know anything that can help me? Thanks a lot!
You can also use the Recolor Artwork and have a lot of control over the randomization.
Here's how:
After expanding a dashed line and releasing its compound path, make with different colors the top and bottom objects of the stack with the help of the Layers panel where you can easily select the top and bottom objects.
Next, choose Edit>Edit Colors>Blend Front to Back
Using the Swatches panel make a swatch group with the colors you want to use for the randomization. You can also open a Swatch library and drag groups or selected swatches from it to the Swatch panel.
With all objects selected open the Recolor Artwork dialog (F3), select a swatch group and press OK
Ok thank you for your responses, Monika, I followed your instruction but it isnt working, is there any steps that I might have done wrongly? Here are some screenshots that depicts my problem:
Here it is after I outline the stroke,
And here it is when I apply the script:
However, after I clicked okay, nothing changed and the strokes are still in their original color(yellow) as seen in the first picture. Did I do any steps wrong that result in this outcome? Also I've tried to put 99 instead of 99s and still, it didnt work.
