Program Error

Aug 8, 2012 8:01 AM

Having just imported and converted to dng some 60 raw images into LR4 I set about processing ready to upload to Alamy once finished in LR4 I send to CS2 for completion i.e. convert to 8bit jpeg all went well with the first 5 but on the sixth the message (could not complete your request because of a program error) popped up. I have never had this problem when just running CS2, but as I am new to LR4 I and could be doing something wrong there.

Windows 7 home priemium 64bit

This same situation has been going on for a while now and I have be unable to resolve. can anyone advise please.

I don't know for sure.  But I'm wondering if there is a compatibility problem with the DNG files.  You might try downloading the DNG converter (7.1) and try converting with it, making sure that you set the option for compatibility to 2.4 or later.  My thinking is that maybe Lightroom converts to a file that is not fully compatible with Photoshop CS2 and it's compatible version of ACR.  It is quite old now.  Like I said, I don't know if this could be a problem.  But it's worth a try.

    Liam,

Jim is probably right about DNG compatibility.

If you're only using PS to convert to jpeg, you can easily do that in LR, with Export, thus saving a trip.

I overlooked your comment about going to Photoshop to convert to JPEG.  If that's all you're doing, using the Lightroom export function is much simpler.

    Liam,

JPEGs are always 8-bit. So the answer is 'yes'.
