So here is what I did. I have VMware Fusion installed with a Windows XP emulation. No trouble at all playing online videos in IE on XP. So basically, bleep you, Apple and Adobe both.

OMG, help Chris~ ! I'd listen to the video - but I CANNOT. I've read, and downloaded, refreshed, linked....

Trouble since upgrading to MAC OSX LION. Ive tried Safari, Firefox, now Chrome/my default now.

Last Modified: 5/24/12 3:38 PM

Location: /Applications/Utilities/Adobe Flash Player Install Manager.app

*adobe media player 1.8

Location: /Applications/Adobe Media Player.app

*Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)

*In Chrome browser it thinks I have version 11.2.202.229 - and don't need to download/update.

What can I do? What other info might you need to assess?

MJ - what exactly is the problem you are having? Is it that the settions and flash dialog controls are unresponsive when clicking them?

What a mess.

Im running: Mac OS X 10.6.8 I've got the flashplayer _11_plugin_debug I'm running the latest version of flashplayer: 11.3.300.257

However when I run hulu (which I assume isn't even trying to access my camera or mic) I get that flash player settings menu that won't go away. The video has said to go to Flash on the System Preferences and change the settings from there, but I'm running it on chrome so I don't have Flash on my Systems preferences. However I did download it and go through steps as the video suggests and ran it on Firefox but I still have the same issue.

This is getting old, after two days I cannot find anything on the forums and can't solve the problem. Someone please help.

@CyrusGold - If you haven't solved your problem already, please uninstall the debug player and try the normal player that you can get here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

@ Chris Nope I've tried everything on here including what you just posted regarding the normal player. I should emphasize that I only see this happening on hulu site. If that is an important.

I've got the 'normal player' ; I've manually set the site to always allow allow under camera settings on the settings menu; i've uninstalled and reinstalled many times ; i've tried Firefox and Chrome and now Safari

I've put my Hulu subscripton on hold but this really sucks. But thanks for trying everyone, I'll keep an eye on this forum.

I believe we're going to have a fix for this in the upcoming 11.4 beta. It didn't make it into beta 2, but should be in the next update (which you'll get automatically if you have auto updates turned on.)

I updated to Mountain lion hoping that would solve the problem. I have tried all of the things suggested on here but nothing has worked. Again, for some reason it is only occuring on Hulu site. I am sure that means something. Are there anymore suggestions?

This is obviously going to be an ongoing issue with Flash Player and browser updates as once again this issue has re-emerged [Mountain Lion and 11,4,402,265], if it was fixed at all.

This issue alone could deter potential customers and revenue for companies who are marketing products which harness the Camera/Microphone via the Flash Player and as a developer its frustrating as hell. No offence to employees but the impression I get is that Adobe are going to throw less money and resources at the Flash Player which ultimately means bugs such as this could remain (or re-emerge).

With this in mind could there be a suggestion made where, within Flash we could handle this more gracefully? For example, is there a (clean) way that we could pick up on application initialise that the security panel has popped up and therefore display some sort of guidance text (which I guess we would have to do external to the SWF due to the setting panel being displayed as a modal overlay above the swf content)?

I know this kind of information can reside in a site wide FAQ but for customers testing a product this block alone could deter them and it would be of greater benefit to guide them as issues arise?

I have seen hacks such as this, however a more solid and less hacky solution would be appreciated.

Flash has turned to sh*t on my system (Mac OS X 10.7.5). I first noticed it when Chrome started giving me frequent notices that the Flash plug-in had crashed. I have used Flash for a long time in Safari with no problems and have auto-updates enabled for the latest versions.

I tried the suggested fix for Chrome, which had both its internal version of the plug in AND the normal one activated. But disabling first one, then the other, didn't affect the problem.

I switched back to Safari and now it won't play many flash videos either. I get a blank window and sometimes a little "plug-in failure" badge.

I've tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Flash, but it's still broken in both browsers. But here's the odd thing: it seems to work fine in one of my OS X user accounts, but not in the one I use for most things. I have some Safari extensions installed like ClickToFlash, but they're all turned off while I try to fix this. They used to work fine.

If it works fine in one user account then we're probably dealing with a third party conflict here (or possibly folder/file permission issues). Can you try deleting your Flash cache/settings and verify all browser/os extensions are disabled?

How do I clear my Flash Player cache and settings?

No joy. I cleared all of Safari's caches etc, verified that its extensions were disabled, then closed it and cleared everything with the Flash Preferences pane. No change at all in behavior.

I was excited when one video played, but it turned out to be HTML5, not Flash.

Using Safari's "inspect element" feature, here's the HTML for an example of a video that won't play:

OK, I may have found the problem. I use an app called FlashFrozen that is supposed to warn of Flash problems. It has an option I've never used called "AutoKill Flash Plugin", which apparently aborts any attempt to load Flash. Somehow this option got set (not by me: must have been space aliens ;-)

Or, to be honest, I may have turned it on while trying to troubleshoot the original problem with Google Chrome. Which also appears to work now.

In any event, unless more problems crop up, I'm going to declare victory. Thanks for your assistance.

I think there is another easily reproducable bug with this work around. If your swf is hosted on a domain seperate to the actual website loading the content for example you host the swf on Amazon S3 (which is becoming a common scenario), then two bugs occur:

The domain for the swf i.e. amazon does not get added to the security list automatically.
If you add the domain manually the flash player settings do not respect the url and therefore still show the security popup and a user is obviously completely unable to interact with.

This pop up was happening on my 2-year old IMac for a couple of weeks. We took in to the Apple store and they made an upgrade of the flash player. That did not work. Then I remembered that I had turned the "right click" on a while back for a game I was using. When I turned it off, the pop up disappeared.

Hi Simon,

This bug should have been fixed with an Apple OS update back in 10.7 (.4 I believe.) However, I have seen additional reports of people still running into this but we haven't been able to reproduce internally. Would you be willing to create a new bug report and attach your system profile information so we can try this out?

While I have some Adobe eyes on this, could you also see why Flash Player 11.5 was released with 10 bugs http://pastebin.com/CHx0z4PE identifying studdering video playback and it still remaining a bug in the released version i.e. clients reporting to me they are seeing studdered video on Flash Player 11.5 upgrades, something they did not suffer with in 11.4?

I'll find out if this was an increase of video related bugs for 11.5, but as far as I'm aware we aren't seeing an increase in video related issues. I went through all of the bugs listed and unfortunately found that the majority were closed out as "could not reproduce". In many cases we did not hear back from the reporter so we couldn't follow up. Out of the 10 bugs, 5 were using ATI based cards, 2 nvidia and 3 did not have hardware information. I'll talk with the bug database and video teams to see if I can find out additional information.

I appreciate your enquiring further for me regarding video related bugs. Personally, myself and clients have never seen as many video related bugs as in all of the 11.* releases, each update introduced some sort of regression and after the latest in 11.5 I had enough hence grabbing you here whilst I had the chance. I also noticed you responded to someone in the forums who described the exact issue a few months ago sending all the required system related data, I will continue on that thread if you would like as he was not updated with progress in relation to the video teams investigation?

I found something interesting.

I am not sure if it's correct, but it has been tried out several times.

MacBook pro OS X 10.8.3

chrome 26.0.1410.65

DELL P2411H

player 11.7 debug

I connect the screen of DELL P2411H to my Macbook. Moreover, setting the screen of DELL is above and the screen of Macbook is below. As Chrome shows on the above screen and settings pop up, I can't click on it. However, I can make click if Chrome shows on the below screen.
