CS4 tif files

When saving tiff files in CS4, how can I have file names automatically created with ".tif" extension.  Currently they are saved as non specific file types unless I include, or later add, ".tif" every time.

    Check your preferences, you set Photoshop to not include file extensions - while the default behavior is to always include the file extension.

    Thanks for your input Chris.  i had already looked in preferences (under edit) and have looked again bit can't see anything that allows me to adjust the file extension.  Perhaps you could point me to the exact option under preferences.

    Preferences -> File Handling -> Append File Extension

    Thanks again Chris.  I was looking for something like that but there is no such option (Append File Extension).  Perhaps we have a faulty program/corrupted file?

    OK, I just made a screen shot of the pertinent CS4 preferences on my Mac for you.  You can't miss it now.

    Not to put too fine a point on your Macintosh dreams, but that option is simply not there in Windows, my friends...

    It could be that another good ol' preferences reset is in order.

    That's why it always pays to specify your platform and OS in your first post. 

     

    It would be futile to suggest to split the forums again, I know, but it would be nice to have them segregated again.

    Obviously, so do I.  Maybe you can figure out how to make them in Photoshop. 

     

    Right now I can only insert them automatically on the Mac-Intel MacBook.  The free "Skitch" utility version that runs on Power Macs is a beta that has already expired, and the company that acquired it (EverNote) no longer supports non-Intel Macs.  The new one is for Intel based Macs only.

     

    Of course, I could open a screen shot from the Power Mac and bring it into Skitch on the Mac-Intel, since they are connected by Ethernet; but it's an extra step.

    Incidentally, the reason I use Skitch to generate screen shots on the MacBook is simply the MacBook laptop doesn't take a snapshot of the third monitor, which is attached by means of a USB-Video Adapter made by Newer Techology
