I made a dumb mistake when I first started using LR and I thought files once downloaded into the catalogue were saved and accessible. I removed the files from bridge and now I cannot open them in my catalogue. My photos will show up in LR, but the message says "cannot open because cannot locate original file"
I can SEE them, I just can't do anything with them. Is there anyway to recover these files?
Yes - I was a dummy - I thought it was saved because I could see it in my catalogue (I also thought I had it backed up externally). I can actually STILL see it there, I just can't do anything with the images. I was just wondering if it was possible to even get a JPEG out of it, or if it was a total loss.
What you are seeing in LR is simply a thumbnail of what was in your LR catalogue. I guess though there is no harm in trying to export what you see in LIghtroom, as a jpg but I can't thjink that would work.
So you imported all into Lightroom and then went into Bridge and deleted them from Bridge and therefore off your drive as well. And no backup? Just trying to understand where things went sideways.
I know, it's so stupid - I had just started using LR and I thought if it showed up, it was saved in LR. I needed some room on my startup disk, so I took it off my drive, thinking it was backed up.
I was just wondering if I can see the thumbnail, if that means LR saves a jpeg of the image in its catalogue at all or if I could export the thumbnail to a jpeg.
