Merging pictures

Aug 9, 2012 8:24 AM

I use PE9.

I sell stamps and would like to post the photographs of the front and the back of my stamps side-by-side, in one picture.

How can I merge the 2 pictures together, making sure that the scale is the same on both?

Thanks.

Maurice

    Maurice,

      1. Open a blank, new file from File menu, enter width & height of your paper stock, resolution 240-300 px/in range
      1. Drag each stamp picture from the Project bin to the background. Each stamp will be on its own layer
      2. Working on one of the stamp layers, press CTRL+T to access the transform tool. On the tool's option bar at the top, right, there is a "scale" icon. You can type in the dimensions to suit. Tick constrain proportions.
      3. Scale the other stamp layer to conform
      4. If you open the Info. palette (Window>tick info.), you can get a readout here as well.

Sorry if I did not make myself clear. There are no dumb questions. We've all been through this, since this is a difficult program to master.

I copied 2 stamps from Google Images, for demonstation. These were on a background, and I selected the background with the magic wand tool, then deleted it. Did this for each stamp.

I dragged the 2 stamps to the work area. Then,  I used the move tool on each of the 2 layers with the stamps (stamp 1 & stamp 2). That gets them off center.

    Then I aligned them vertically.

Please look at this print screen and you can see the layer structure. Be sure that your layers palette is open.
