Illustrator 5.5 quits when I place an image (tif, jpg or png).

When I go to place an image in Illustrator 5.5 the application quits. Do I have to reinstall the application? I haven't changed any preferences recently.

    First, there is no Illustrator 5.5. You can Creating Suite 5.5 which includes Illustrator CS5 aka Illustrator 15.

     

    Second, what OS are you using and what version? We need to know more about your situation to help you.

     

    Third, how are you placing the image? Describe the steps you are using and the format of the file(s) you are placing. What program saved the files?

    Sorry. Illustrator 15.1.0.

    Mac OSX 10.7.4

    So I have opened a new document in illustrator and then scrolled down the file > place

    I select a tiff file saved in photoshop CS5 12.1 in mac format.

    The missing profile comes up and I click OK. The nnothing happens or the program quits.

    I have restarted my mac. Still no luck.

     

    Could it be something to do with the workspace? I have it set to essentials.

     

    I have tried pasting in the image after copying it in PHotoshop and that seems to work.

     

    Any ideas?
