Opening InDesign CS3 Document in CS6

I recently purchased a new iMac computer and upgraded to CS6 Design Standard. I was told before purchase that CS3 documents would transfer seamlessly to CS6 ... however, that is not what is happening. When I try to open a CS3 InDesign document in CS6, it tells me I have a "corrupted database," and that I need to export the document out of CS3 (InDesign Interchange) in order to open in CS6. I have like 10 years of document that I need to access, and I can't resave every one in order to open them. These files are NOT corrupted, as has been suggested before. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a workaround? Thanks for any help.

    Before you do anything else, make backup copies of all the files.

     

    Does the file that CS6 reports as corrupted still open in CS3? Will it open as a copy in CS6?

     

    Will another file that you haven't tried to open in CS6 still open in CS3?

    I have been struggling with the same issue.  I have found that most, if not all of my older CS3 files can be opened from within the CS6 program. When I try opening from the standard desktop or folder, it doesn't recognize the file type.


    Thus, after starting your program... e.g Indesign> Open File from Indesign Home page and it should work.
