What is the right fps(image sequence) playback

Aug 10, 2012 8:58 AM

Got the nexus 7. Testing out playback for image sequence.

I did an animation in photoshop cs6. Used 29.97. Tried to match the 29.97 via the speed section in the overlay panel.

I am still getting choppy playback. Ipad runs smoother but is a little choppy as well. I am using a jpg sequence.

What do you guys recommend I set this too?

Here is a little rant:

This is my first experience with an andriod device:

Nexus 7 / jelly bean

Pros-

size is great

navigating thru jelly bean is quick.

Very mobile!

Cons-

Stupid bottom buttons. Kills the presentations experience on the device. Destracting imo.

still no inline vid support.

Not a huge fan of the wide screen shape. Verticle view is nice but landscape feels too long imo.

Rotating a dps from portrait to lanscape is very choppy. Anyone else having this issue?

HTML5 support sucks in dps.

rant over. I hope rumors are true and apple comes out with a 7" tablet.

Really depends on the sequence. I just finished a job with a bunch of animated charts that I created in Illustrator.

Using 16 fps made for a nice effect.

I have a Nexus 7 and tested out the animation and they’re about the same to my eye, but again…it will depend on the images you’re using.

Finally, the DPS experience on Android is no where near as good as it is on the iPad.

    ncone1,

I did a small image sequence animation for an iPad app and used 12 fps, I was satified with the results. It is, of course, an animation out of After Effects of a line and not of a character or true video. If you want to see it, the app is free for iPad http://itunes.apple.com/app/todas-las-letras/id540437129?mt=8

And, to second Bob L's comment above, the experience of image sequences on iPad is wicked smoother than on Adndroid.

    Good luck,

    Dan
