Installation of Adobe Flash Player

I keep getting an error message that the download of Adobe Flash Player was unsuccessful. The message also says that a newer version is installed. I have tried the troubleshooting remedy and this does not work. I would appreciate help with this installation.

Do a clean install as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315

If you still have problems, supply your operating system and browser info.
