Scanning Feeder Problem

When I scan using the feeder I always get black oulines at the bottom of the page and frequently on the sides as if it is trying to auto align.  When I use the glass top I do not have this problem.  This is not the only scanner I have but the problem is the same with the other scanners.  What they have in common is adobe X.  Is this an adobe problem?  If so what is it?   I am currently using Windows 7.
