Although there are many ways to code the flip card effect with images and movies, the ones I've found are very complicated. Is there a way to use the flip card effect on a movie clip in a simple way?
any help is much appreciated,
You need to describe/define what you consider to be "very complicated".... "simple" is a relative term. Anyone offering help could be wasting their time, offering what you already have found to be too complicated for your liking.
Are you familiar with tweening with code? Are you familiar with manipulating the 3 dimensional properties supported by AS3?
They are two ways that I found, the one from the people of flashmath.com and the one using greensock. I was just being curious to find out if there is some other way to do it. I am using the greensock one using movieclips. The flashmath.com people are using pictures. How can I replace a picture by a movieclip ? I am like Blaise Pascal who used to battle his headaches doing math.
As a simple explanation of how to do it, all you need to do is change the rotationX or the rotationY property of the movieclip by 180 degrees (use a tween for a gradual change).
If you want the effect of flipping a card, then you need to have the two sides of the card in the movieclip as separate movieclips. Whichever side is shown first needs to sit above the other side and needs to be made invisible halfway thru changing the rotationX or rotationY property.
Actually I solved my problem. I just was being curious. It is very simple using
