How to create new Plug-in

Hi Experts,

      I'm Indesign Js developer. Now I wish to work with ID SDK. I go through guides in indesign sdk Kit. But there, there are things mentioned and if I tried to execute the sample provided by them and tried to build, It shows some errors that "WriteFishPrice.dll" file missing. I search a lot in google about how to create my owm plug-in & development. But I can't found a clear solution. There is no enough Guide as clear. While I start learning Indesign JS before a long time, It's very clear guide's and easy to learn. But SDK is not clear. Is Getting Adobe License must for creating Plug-in? no other way? Can any one Guide me.....!

 

I'm using CS5 & Windows OS.

    There was a guide ww-plug-ins.pdf (working with InDesign plug-ins) in the InDesign CS3 SDK, but it is not included in SDK since CS4.

     

    If you cannot find an CS3 SDK, the PDF is available here.

    Hi Vel

     

    Download InDesign CS5 Product SDK, and u need visual studio. Pls check for VS version required for cs5 in 'Requirements' page.

     

    Run dollyxs bat. it will create automatically a base for ur plugin.

    Take some time and read 'getting started guide' carefully. Dont forget to change 'Target' in VS as 'Release' unless you have 'debug' version of indesign.

    For SDK 5 you will need VS2008. Not sure if the Express version will work.

     

    As AYS said, do remember to change the target to Release, I think the default on opening a sample project is Debug.

    VS Express edition will work fine!

    You can even just open sample plugins and build.

    Hi AidySun,

              I've an error.It look likes the following. I just tried the Write Fish Price sample file which is provided by adobe samples. While I tried to build the WriteFishPrice.vc.proj file. But it's showing some dll file missing. Actually I tried the Adobe kit only. I can't able to build successfully. Any Idea...

    Hi Velprakash,

    I have never met this issue before. According to the the picture, it looks like the project is converted by Visual Studio. InDesign CS5 requires VS 2008, if you are using later version, it's better to recreate the project by Dollyx following the ww-plugins.pdf instead of the update conversion by VS.

    BTW, if you are using VS2010, you can use CS6 SDK directlly.

    Thank you for your kind reply Mr. AidySun. I've Cs5 & worked with Vs10. Now i'm going to try with VS2008 as per ur guess. I'll be back after testing.

         I'm back after a long time... I can't nunderstand the line where to add. Please see the below image that shown in Guide PDF to create plugin of WriteFishPrice Sample. Can U guide me...

    In VS2010, this option has been moved to each project.

     

    Right click on one project and select Properties, there is the option VC++ Directors under Configuration Properties.

    Hi AidySun,

            Thank you for your kind reply AidySun. I go through your steps. But I think I missed some steps while setting some paths. I've a following error when I opened the WriteFishPrice.vcproj. The screenshot looks like the below. I tried a lot to solve this issue by myself without disturbing anyone. Can u help me!
