i am a aspiring photog and am looking to upgrade my photo editing software. looking to go with a ps product but unsure of which is best for my level. which is green, new, unexperienced, lol. i am looking to edit, enhance color and textures, crop, remove objects, sharpen, smooth, blemish remove, use of other purchased actions and templates and maybe even layer and stitch photos... and so on. really leaning toward pse or LR4... any advice?? help? should i buy both or is that repititous? or am i looking at the wrong product for what i want to do?
There are three that I would recommend for a novice:
All three are available on a trial basis and you could download all three of them and decide for yourself which is the ideal one for you to start with.
Good luck and let us know which one did you go for.
A few of the things you mention probably involve using layers or destructive editing, which LR4 cannot do, but LR is great for working with photos, in general. You might Google for Lightroom Elements Difference and see how each complements the other.
There is likely a new version of Elements, PSE11, coming out in a month or two, so if Elements looks like something you want to use, then wait a little while so the trial doesn’t expire before the release version comes out.
So, I’d suggest giving Paintshop Pro a trial run, first, and see if you can get it to do what you want it to do.
Then, perhaps try LR4 and PSE11 (or PSE10 if you can’t wait) and see how well they fit what you think you want to do.
Thanks guys for the advice . One more question. The pse10 trial can I save and use what I edit in the software or is it like other trial where you can only view or edit but cannot save as a pic I would like ro use?
