Flash Media Server 4.5.2 hanging in livepkgr application

Aug 7, 2012 2:22 PM

Hello I work for a video streaming company and we have extensive use of Flash Media Server. We currently use Adobe Flash Media Enterprise Server 4.5.2 for Linux. We currently have an issue where the livepkgr application hangs. So about after a week of starting the fms server, you are no longer able to run any livepkgr events. This requires a restart of the fms application in order for livepkgr to work again. I can see thru lsof that there are several open stream files for an old GUID within the fmsroot/applications/livepkgr/_definst_/streams folder. There are no indications in the logs of an error. Has anyone experienced this issue and/or can shed light into fixing this problem?

    Hi

This can happen when a large recording exists in your streams folder, and when the encoder is restarted frequently to append to the same streams.

If deleting old recordings is not an issue and you only work with live streams, you can try publishing in record mode.

Your publish string will look something like this:

    livestream?adbe-live-event=liveevent&adbe-record-mode=record

This will auto-remove any previous content in the 'streams' folder and begin writing the files afresh.

    Shiven
