Watermark "text" appears as a horizontal line

I'm trying to create my first watermark for copyrighting images. Following the instructions from Everyday Elements (recommended on this forum), I got as far as creating a new file, activating the Type tool, and selecting my font (Bradley Hand). When I click on the file and start to type, all I see is a straight horizontal line. Thanks in advance for your advice!

    Since I don't have that font, I will guess that it is a problem with that font. What happens if you choose a standard font such as Arial? Does it do the same thing?

    You must be using a large resolution image. So increase the font size. The drop down ends at 72 but you can type in a value manually. Try 100 or 150 for starters.

    Yes, the file was big--bigger than I need, I'm sure--so I started over and made the file smaller and the font larger. Perfect! Thanks so much for the help.
