I have bought/downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and it installed fine, but whenever I go to start up the application it instantly quits with "The Application Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 has unexpectedly quit". This happens endlessly, and even when I try going on another account it still happens. I don't have any presets or prefrences (others have said to delete the file) and I am simply unsure on what to do next. I asked the tech support in the chat and they instructed me to make a test account, but it still kept happening.
Try making a direct shortcut for the Organizer and Editor. Make sure you have the correct file path as there is more than one exe file. You can then launch the programs directly from the desktop bypassing the welcome screen. This is generally better as the welcome screen leaves background processes running. On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut Then click the browse button and navigate to: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe" Then click Next; then click Finish N.B. on 64 bit systems navigate to Program Files (x86) Then make a direct shortcut for the Editor in a similar manner. On Windows, Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut Then click the browse button and navigate to: "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe" Then click Next; then click Finish
Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 paths
Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 settings
If you have lion or mountain lion, this library is hidden. Option click the Go menu in the Finder and it will appear below the little house for your user account.
While you're in there also go to the Saved Application States folder and delete everything for PSE.
Repair permissions and try again.
I had already deleted the .plist, and so I went to delete settings as well (couldn't find the paths folder, probably because I have never been able to successfully open Photoshop Elements on this computer). I have Snow Lepoard, but I still went to try to find the Saved Application States Folder but I could not. Then I used Onyx to repair permissions and yet, the problem persists.
You could try downloading from a different source but firstly, use the uninstaller to get rid of everything. Then go to the link below and download the free trial (it’s exactly the same as the full product) and if you get it installed, simply enter your product serial number to make it permanent.
