If you licensed/registered it directly from the Adobe site, you should be able to open http://www.adobe.com/ and find a download link under My Adobe or My Orders.

Welcome to the forum.

When you do find the download link under My Adobe, and download it, burn it to a DVD-Data disc for later. Not sure how long Adobe keeps older download links up for, but I would want to have the file safely in my closet - just in case. Make sure to put a label on it with your S/N.

I purchased student and teacher edition, so was told to simply activate my trial with my purchased serial number (download link not provided). The only trial link now available is for CS5. What should I do in this case?

You don't see your serial number AND a download link in the My Adobe or My Orders section on the Adobe web site, as listed above?

Unfortunately no download link in my orders. My purchase option was ‘ship in a box’ and the box contained no CD, just the serial number that activated my CS5 trial into a full licenced version.

That is more than "odd."

There should have been a DVD case with the discs inside the box.

For the trial verson of CS5, try ProDesign Tools: http://prodesigntools.com/tag/ddl

Then, when downloaded and installed, just plug in your S/N.

Thank you all for your help. I must say I feel a little ripped off, I made the effort to buy legit from Adobe online, I am a genuine student and I didn’t have a clue it would be so difficult to re-install a licenced program! I’ll give the link a go. Thanks again.

A note to all who buy software as a download and have valuable data:

Think ahead! Make your own media and save your serial number info. Make backups. Don't naively think that others are going to have your back in the future. Data gets lost!
