Hide slide widget on question slides

Aug 15, 2012 1:26 AM

Captivate v5.5

I have the slide number widget on my first slide, set to display for the whole project - which works just fine.

However I have a series of question slides towards the end of the project on which I have displayed "Question 1 of 10 etc".

During these questions I would like to stop the slide number (from the widget) being seen and then re-appear again on the final few slides.

Can this be done and if so, how please ?

    Hi Noel,

No problem on CP5.5. Here are the steps:

    1. On the first question slide, in the Properties panel of the slide go to the Action accordion
    2. for On Enter (slide) select Hide, and choose the label of the widget
    3. On the first slide where you want to show the widget again, repeat this
    4. but now choose Show and choose the label of the widget

It would have been a problem in 5.0 because you could hide the widget, but not show it again on a later slide.

Of course, the numbering will continue while hiding, is that OK? So if you have 7 slides, and widget is hidden on slides 3-5, on slide 6 it will show 6 out of 7.

Every object that can be timed for the rest of the project can be handled that way. This excludes all interactive objects (like buttons, click boxes, TEB's and interactive widgets). I once blogged about hiding/showing, but still with CP5, where showing was only possible on the slide where the object was original. I have been begging, and now this is possible on any slide of the project if the object is timed for the rest of the project.
