In the smooth scrolling section, what is the point of having the direction for building a horizontal smooth scrolling page if it doesn't work? Also, why are the dialog boxes available in the folio producer that make it look possible to build a horizontal smooth scroll if it isn't possible? It's one thing for non-functional aspects to be outside of the folio producer tools, as they have functions outside of DPS, but it only serves to aggravate your users when functionality is teased in the folio producer tools and then, the fact that they aren't functional, is hidden below instruction on how to make those tool work.
Dealing with the Adobe help in relation to DPS is an exercise in frustration. And the forums, that are so often recommended as help resources, are patrolled by snobs who seem to find joy in telling people they are too stupid to use DPS. PLEASE provide useful help to people as the software is changing on a six-week interval and users who are unable to attend the intro webinar (or are locked out as I was due to an error on Adobe's end) are often left in the dark to new features until someone at Adobe danes to update the new features page.
The level of support give to DPS users is simply unacceptable considering the exorbitant fees that are charged to publish via the platform.
BTW. A scrollable frame does not have the same functionality as a potential horizontal smooth scrolling page. Please make this a priority.
When you add or import an article, the Smooth Scrolling settings are somewhat confusing. In addition, they're different depending on whether you're using CS5/CS5.5 or CS6.
The key thing to understand is that when you create an article with Smooth Scrolling, there are two different settings. The first option -- the Smooth Scrolling pop-up menu -- determines the article's orientation setting. For example, you can turn on Smooth Scrolling for the vertical layout and turn it off for the horizontal layout. But that setting doesn't determine whether the current layout being added is horizontal or vertical. That confuses a lot of people. Instead, the other Portrait or Landscape options (CS5/CS5.5) or the pop-up menus (CS6) determine whether the current layout is horizontal or vertical.
I hope this helps.
