Problem: 2 different URL's for the same homepage

Hi,

I'm having an issue with Canonicalization, where my homepage has two different URLs. From my understanding, this is diluting my SEO efforts. I've read that the correct method to remedy the situation is to do a 301 redirect, however I don't know how to do this.

Below are examples:

Web addresses:

http://www.liveimagegreenscreen.com/index.html

http://www.liveimagegreenscreen.com/

Canonicalization Article:

http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/canonicalization

Hi pharcydeabc,

Thanks for your patience. If you're hosting with a third-party you'll need to create or modify the code in the .htaccess file that is on your web hosting server. This is beyond the scope of Muse. However, here is some information on how to create a 301 redirect:

This can be a confusing process and, if done incorrectly, can cause problems with your hosting. I would recommend contacting your hosting provider for support and assistance with creating/modifying your .htaccess file.

If your site is hosted with Business Catalyst, here are instructions from the BC team on how to setup permanent redirects in the BC administration:
