How do I edit adobe docs I've downloaded from the internet. Where should I download them?

If you have only Adobe Reader you don't edit PDFs.

PDF documents are not meant to be edited. As Test says, the free Reader has no editing capabilities. Acrobat has some. However, any major editing is best performed on the original file; i.e. the one from which the PDF file was made.
