What so I do when the program doesn't convert PDF to Word but just spins for a long time and then quits because it encountered and error?

DEpends. What program are you talking about? This forum is for Adobe Reader and Reader doesn't convert to Word.

Must have been the Adobe end of the business. works fine now.
