I am currently working on a project that requires the use of a HUGE graphic. I am looking for a way to extend the gray area around the stage to view the entire graphic as I work. Any help would be wonderful! Thanks in advance.

In any case, you really don't want to use one huge monolithic image file in Flash. It leads to poor performance and a slow download time. You will be better served by cutting up the image into smaller pieces, load in each of the pieces and then reassemble the image as needed.
you could make a new layer, placing it near the bottom of the stack. from there right click on the layer and make it a " guide" layer the icon for the layer should change when you do this as well. then draw on the stage ( making sure this layer is selected ) and draw a grey box to size as needed. I would then go back and lock this new layer so it is not editted by chance.
doing this guide layer will then allow you to publish the file and not have the grey area showup as you review the file. I would reccomned once the file is as needed going back into the fla and deleting the guide layer as it is no longer needed.
Hope it helps
