my computer does not regonize or open pdf's

my computer will not recognize or open pdf files. when i try to open a pdf-a box opens with unreadable information.

    Do you have Acrobat or Reader? How are you trying to open the PDFs? Are you using Windows or a MAC? What version of the softwre are you using and what is your OS? Basically you have not given enough information to even guess.
