Dreamweaver CS6 lags as I type in the code editor. It's like the program can't keep up with me as I type. I've reopened the program several times and I still am experiencing the same behavior. Additionally, when I switch between windows, I get the spinnning beach ball almost every time. Anyone else experiencing this?
I am running Mac OS X 10.7.4 on a 3.4GHz Core i7 iMac with 16GB of RAM and an SSD.
Hi,
We could reproduce this issue on a higher resolution monitors (only) in Mac OS. We are actively working on the fix for this as well as release plan so that the fix is availble for the DW users. Until then, if you could keep the code view little small then you can avoid this problem... just a workaround, until the fix reaches you all.

I think this issue has got to be limited to Mac OSX, I have a friend that is strictly Mac who mentioned this issue to me over twitter. I'm on an 8GB Asus laptop running Windows 7 and I couldn't duplicated the issue. Given that even at 8GB someone is experiencing this on OSX I have to assume its a Mac thing. Oddly enough this issue didn't exist in OSX on CS5.5 version of Dreamweaver.
This isn't a veiled dig against Mac, I've just noticed that over the years the synergy between Mac and Adobe hasn't been what it once was (part of the reason for me shifting back to PC aside from the whole Final Cut X thing... Love the new Adobe Premier CS6 by the way!)
Overall CS6 has been more stable. I don't have nearly the number of issues I've had in CS5.5 or previous versions and even the problems in CS5.5 were minimal.
I can confirm I am also experiencing this issue. Particularly when editing JavaScript the following problems occur:
- Slow scrolling the larger the window
- Display glitching when the error bar pops up (and disappears), which causes the display to not update properly and sometimes making it look like the line has been duplicated.
I've run all the updates from Adobe, and have the latest version of Lion.
My spec is 12 core intel Xeon and 64GB RAM so I highly doubt my spec has anything to do with it!!
Irony is that this doesn't happen for me in Dreamweaver CS4, what a joke!
Hi Preran, this still happens for me I just ran another update check on my dreamweaver version and I am running the latest one, though that is lower than the one you've listed (I'm on 12.0 Build 5842 on Lion--(not Mountain Lion)). This problem renders this version of dreamweaver totally useless to me even when viewing something with mildly lengthy code (ie- 1000 lines). Typing becomes slow and choppy, as well as the other issues I highlighted above. As someone else highlighted this problem becomes worse the larger the window is, but this does not happen at all on Dreamweaver CS4.
Preran,
I have build 12.1 and noticed this lag when typing code for the first time today and after search found this thread. The only change to the PC (Windows Vista, 8GB mem, dual monitors (NVIDIA graphics) today was updating JAVA.
DW CS6 is basically unusable at the moment - very frustrating. You type code and nothing happens - then all of sudden, after the lag code appears or after you refresh.
Same with scrolling the CSS styles - terrible lag. It's almost as if the processor is running at 100% or you're out of memory but it is neither of those issues.
OK so I shrunk the screen to about 50% of full size and so far I see that these issue are no longer present..So 12.1 does not appear to have resolved the issue with full screen.
Please advise.
Nice to see there's real attentiveness to quite a serious issue! After going on live chat with support I was rudely told I had to pay to be able to get support on this issue. Quite the smack in the face considering that this is not an issue with our machines but an issue with Adobe's software itself. Not very happy.
Hello All,
High CPU usage in Code view issue has been resolved for Mac and the new build 12.0.3 is available for update for Non-Creative Cloud Members too. Please update to the latest build.
In Dreamweaver use menu 'Help' > Updates to get the latest build 12.0.3
The above update is available for both Windows and Mac.
Off topic: Creative Cloud users too have an update 12.1.1 to continue using Phone Gap from DW.
Regards,
Janaki
Hi,
This kind of solved my issue but I'm still seeing artefacting problems when there are code errors, for example if in JavaScript an error appears and the bar at the top appears which pushes the content down, when its resolved sometimes the display doesn't refresh properly making it look like lines of code have been duplicated, the only way to clear it is to scroll or shift the window about.
