What operating system?

What are your system specs?

How are you initiating the preview?

How are you zooming into the timeline?

AE CS6 (latest update)

win7 x64

dell t7500 (dual quad core xeon 3.2 ghz, 24 Gb ram, quadro fx 3800)

"0" on the numpad

with the little thingy on the bottom of the timeline (don't know what its call, but i am sure you know what i mean)

honestly i could swear this is new in cs6, but i just checked back in cs5 and its there as well

Are they both on the same computer? You may have something set up strangely on that machine. I don't have that happening with my CS5.

yes its on the same machine. all other machines in the studio with AE installed have the same problem.

I can't replicate your problem. It's happening on all of your other machines? How many machines are we talking? Are all of your machines the same? What graphics cards are in use? Have you installed any extra codecs? What other software is running on your machines? Do you have BlackMagic, AJA/Kona, or some other type of capture/preview card installed?

its four machines, they are all dell precision workstations with more or less the same config (all of them have quadro cards in them, but different ones). none of them has additional hardware (like a blackmagic) in them. some have additional codecs installed.

it happens in every project, even in a new, empty one.

BUT: there is one thing i forgot to mention: it only happens with the fullscreen option of the ram preview (i use that all the time and don't ever preview in a tiny window with interface).

do you have the same issue when turning full screen on in the preview options?

AHA! I do have the same issue. Let's all go file a bug report!

Side note: I never use that fullscreen option. Get a second monitor or try the ~ key to blow your comp window to full screen when doing previews and you probably won't need to use it either.
