How can I package an Android app that is over the 50mb limit using Flash Pro CS6 and Air? Google now allows for additional content to be downloaded separately ...
Sorry cant be much help, but was trying to find a solution to my problem and this guy in stackoverflow gave a brief answer, which will hopefully point you in the right direction.
It easier to do module in flex but thats not to say that its not possible in flash cs6. Have a look at this post http://jessewarden.com/2009/05/creating-modules-in-flash-cs4.html or search google for Modules in Flash/Actionscript.
Even if I can get Flash Pro to package some data into an external file and get my main .APK down below 50mb, how do I know that external file will be in the appropriate format for the Android Market? Uhg. I think I'll be calling Adobe on this one ...
I've spoken with Adobe support. They said that they could only help me if I purchased a "developer licenese". I don't think they understood the scope of this issue.
Can someone from Adobe chime in here? I need to be able to package for Android and my APK is like 66MB.
OK ... so I called tech support on the phone and spent 15 minutes trying to convince them then Flash Pro CS6 could be used to create an Android app.. The conversation went nowhere. Uhhhhgggg!!!
Here's the deal ... Flash Pro CS6 is advertised as being able to create Android apps. The 50MB file size limitation may not be a big deal for many people right now, but give it a year or two. Most phones coming out have HD screens. How can you pack all the assets of large game into <50MB???
So ... I'm going to continue to bump this thread (and the two other ones I have going) until I get a knowedgable response from Adobe.
