Hello
I seem to be having an error that has been present in Captivate for a while - looking at the discussions, I have not found anyone who actually solved the issue.
I installed Captivate 6 as a trial. I was able to run the software and make software simulation slideshows. However, today i cannot! I am not sure what has happened. I get the attached error when I run the application As Administrator, and try to start making a software simulation.
I have uninstalled Captivate, rebooted, installed, failed, uninstalled, deleted the program file folders, deleted the preferences in the app folder etc. Nothing seems to work.
Is there something extra I need to do in order to wipe this application completely, and just get up and running again? I am lucky that at the moment I am trialling this software - but it seems to be giving issues within 2 days of using it.....
Any chance that you are on a corporate network? If so make sure that your Captivate Project Cache folder is not located on a network location. Note that "My Documents" may very well be a network location (roaming profile) so try and create a directory on your C:\ drive where you keep the cache files.
Cache files on a network location can easily cause this fatal error (it did for me)..

Thanks for the reply - it was not the case. I solved it though:
I was logged on as a domain user, but with administrator rights to my machine. However, I had to create a new local user account with admin privileges. I then made a batch file as a sort of shortcut to launch the Captivate and run as this local admin user - even when logged in as my normal work domain user.
So, my batch file had this:
runas /user:nwhitley "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 6 (32 Bit)\AdobeCaptivate.exe"
This is a 'frig' it does require that you enter your password when launching it.
But, now it does not bomb out and crash.
