DW/CS3 Preview in browser puts the file, not previews it.

DW/CS3 When I preview in browser DW puts the file to the ftp remote server. It will not preview the local file in my primary or secondary browser.

It was ok in Win XP but I now have Win7 64.

    Weird. Are you opening the file on your server to make edits, rather than opening the local file?

    It is weird indeed, but no, local file.

    Is this when you go up to File > Save or when you hit Ctrl + S?

     

    If it only happens with the keyboard shortcut, maybe your mapping for "Save to Remote Server" has been messed up.

     

    Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts

     

    Click the + by File

     

    Is Ctrl + S on Save to Remote Server?

    I think I've tracked down the problem.

    I must have changed the Manage Site page called Testing Server, because if I press F12 or use File, Preview in Browser, I get the message "This will update the file on the testing server."

    I cannot recall changing this page, but . . .

    I've read the Help file on "Testing Server" but cannot even begin to understand it.

    Can you advise what should I use on this page?

    If you aren't using server scripting methods (ASP/.NET/CF/PHP) then you don't need a testing server and should just delete that from the site definition.  You will need a remote server definition at some point so that you can upload your files.
