Can't Escape Text Box

Help!! One of my favorite shortcut keys has mysteriously stopped working. I always press "Escape" on the keyboard to exit out of editing a text box. Now when I press Escape, it is doing nothing. I have the keyboard functions NumLock and F Lock turned on, but they are always on. Did I somehow turn this feature off??

    By default, I think, Escape should change to the selection tool when you are editing text. Are you using a custom shortcut set? Have you checked in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts...? What's the OS?

    I have added a few custom shortcuts, but not recently. This just started happening today. It's Windows XP, and version CS3 of InDesign.

    Check the set to make sure it's still active and correct, and if it is, see Replace Your Preferences

    Hmm, it seems to have mysteriously resolved itself....I have a large magazine file open, so maybe it was a memory thing? I don't know!

    Did you happen to reboot? That can clear a temporary problem sometimes.
