Greeting card need to resize paper to 7x10

Aug 17, 2012 1:31 PM

Trying to make a5x7 greeting card.  Using paper that is 7x10.  Can't resize the paper size.  Clicked on custom but it doesn't ask me what size.

Try turning off to Fit Media or create a custom paper size in your printer, itself, if possible, and select that in the printer driver then turn on Scale to Fit Media.

Are you saying that when you select "Custom Size" in step #5, you don't get this "More Options" dialog box?

OK, let's start from the beginning:

First of all, what is the physical size of the paper that's in your printer?

Second, when you created your card from scratch, did you create a 7x10 image and place your front photo on the righthand side?  So, in other words, your entire greeting card has an overall size of 7x10?

If so, you will print that entire 7x10 greeting card size on a 7x10 (or larger) piece of paper.  When you fold it, you'll have your 5x7 greeting card.

    Here's an example:

I created a two page image, sized to the unfolded card size.

Here's the inside of the card:

    Here's the outside:

Because my printer can't print all the way out to the edges, I need to print the card images on a larger sheet of paper.  So, I choose my physical paper size, and set the print image size to "Actual Size" and centered on the physical paper.  The neat thing is that in the "More Options" dialog, you can set it to "Print Crop Marks"

and the resulting print will have the crop marks to use for trimming:

Hmmmm...if your settings for "Landscape" are all OK in PSE, then there's something in your printer's software that's overriding that "Landscape" setting.  In that PSE print dialog, click on every button you can find to drill down into your printer's settings to find where that "Portrait" setting is being applied.
