Text is suddenly small in CS2

Aug 17, 2012 2:25 PM

All of a sudden my text is incredibly small. The resolution is set at 300. The "Resample image" box is unticked. I've tried resetting the character...still the text is smaller than it should be. For example, 8 point Times New Roman can barely be seen with the naked eye. I haven't done anything different. What gives?

Make sure you specified 8 pt and not 8 px.

Are you sure that your text units are not pixels (px) instead of points (pt)?

Edit: posted while Chris was posting.

What are the pixel dimensions of your document?

8 pt text can be pretty small on big pixel dimension documents.

Are you viewing the document at 100% view (actual pixels)?

Here's what it looks like in cs2 for me at 100% view (actual pixels)

(click on the image below for a full size view)

If you double click on the zoom tool and then look at the text, is yours smaller?

It looks very much like it would in a 72 ppi document at 100% zoom. You are absolutely sure that it's 300 ppi?

The text should still be bigger even at that size.

It looks like the text size is set to pixels instead of point as Chris Cox said.

In the tool options bar with the type tool selected does it have pt or px after the size?

    Two things you can try:

    1. with the type tool selected, right click on the big T in the tool options bar and choose Reset Tool.

    2. If that doesn't try resetting the cs2 preferences by holding down the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys just after double clicking to start photoshop.

Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the photoshop settings file and click yes.
