I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue before. We don't have an LMS, so we distribute our elearning by files on a shared drive in our training rooms. After a person takes the course and exits the course (and browser, even logs off the computer, etc), the next person that comes to take the course first lands on the 'Conclusion' section's first slide (we used several files to build the course and then the aggregate to compile).
We even tried clearing the browser's history/cache to fix the issue, but it still occurs. Is it something on Captivate's end, an option somewhere perhaps to turn off a feature?
I suppose we could try to load the flash player onto the computers and get all .swf files to load into it...but would that help?
We're getting IT to help troubleshoot, too, but I wanted to check here first to see if anyone had any ideas. Thanks!!
Are you using the Table of Contents feature? If so, perhaps you need to clear the "Self Paced Learning" option found by following this path:
Project > Table of Contents > Settings button.
Ensure the "Self -Paced Learning" option is cleared.
Dismiss all dialogs, then re-publish the project so the new settings are in the output file.
I believe this option creates a persistent "cookie" that is read when the same file is next opened.
Let us know how it goes... Rick

Trying this out now, but I’m in Captivate 5 (sorry, should have noted that!) and I don’t see any ‘advanced’ option under the preferences menu, or any way to set the ‘exit’ option to normal.
Under the preferences Pass or Fail menu, I can select an Action for ‘if passing’ and ‘if failing’. They are currently both set to ‘Continue’. Is that what you mean?
Also, (and I’m not sure how related this is) under the Properties tab on a quiz slide (questions or the result slide), I can’t set the Action for ‘On Exit’ because it’s greyed out.
Kate, the question slides have never an On Exit event, because the actions on exit are the ones that you specify On Success or After Last Attempt.
Did you check the settings on TOC (even if you do not use the TOC): uncheck Self-paced learning.
I have no idea what Seth is talking about, in 4/5/5.5/6 there is no Advanced option in Quiz Preferences. Perhaps he uses an older version, but I do not have those installed anymore. The two actions are indeed On Pass and On Failure on Quiz level. Do not think this has anything to do with bookmarking.
Thanks all! I did what you and Rick said, Lilybiri, and turned off the self-paced learning in the TOC settings. It worked!
I have another issue now regarding testing in an LMS with aggregator files… but I’ll start a new discussion since it’s off topic from this one.
I couldn't see your other post about the Aggregator issue so I thought I would just chime in here and mention that Aggregator is NOT designed to be used in an LMS. It doesn't create the necessary output files to communicate with the LMS. You should look into using the Adobe Multi-SCORM Packaging tool instead.
Sorry I cldn't reply sooner. I totally missed the part when you said you didn't have an LMS. This is what happens when you are talking on the phone about an unrelated subject and posting on the forum at the same time, my bad.
By the way, that option is under Quiz>Quiz Pref>Reporting>Select Enable reporting for this project first and then > Advanced. It clears bookmarking on exit.
Rick, I did see that you suggested that, but apparently she didn't do it yet. So with the two of us pushing, it worked Even when she doesn't show the TOC, if the option is checked bookmarking will be functional.
LOL, no worries. Just found it a good opportunity for my warped sense of humor!
Carry on... Rick
I should warn you though. My wife bought me comedy classes for my birthday. So you may see more bad jokes and puns as I try to "Captivate you"!

Thanks, Rod. I didn’t post on it because I found another conversation dealing with the same topic, and found that it doesn’t work. But I didn’t see anything about the SCORM packaging tool, so I’m looking that up! Thanks!
