Pen tool

Hi i am unable to get a stroke on the pen tool despite following numerous tutorials

    Which software and version ? also on which OS

     

    Also it would be better if you could explain your issue in detail.

    Sorry CS6 when i draw with the pen tool it wouldn't allow me to select stroke path i restarted the software and it's working better
