I thought mine had crashes as well and restarted it a few time. It wasn't until the third time that I realised that it was just extremely slow in opening the directories. I have a relatively fast system, but it took almost a minute before it opened the main directory. I could open C:/, click on User and then it would stall

Same thing happens to me (and happened in 3.6), when my phone connected to the computer over usb. Unplug it and no crash (it a samsung Galaxy S2 which presents it self as a mtp device).

    Longshot but hope it helps..

I have had the same problem with Lightroom 4 and 4.1 crashing when attempting imports. Now I know the culprit: my Motorola Droid Razor!!  I use the cell phone to tether for the internet, so its connected most times I am at the computer.

After finally finding this article and many hours of disappointment, frustration and cussing up a blue streak, all is well and peaceful once again. And Lightroom: please forgive me for all those terrible things I was mumbling to myself when all the while it was

    my @$%^&*((^%$##$  cell phone !!

    Thank you....thank you....thank you

I wouldn't say that the phone is the culprit. LR is just trying to recognize as a source of images a device to which it shouldn't try to connect. Why should a phone be "Lightroom aware" ?

Hi Jodanna21, your mobile phone was connected with your computer when you encountered this problem? If so, could you please provide me more info: what was the connection mode between your phone and computer?for example, you connected mobile via usb port, or wi-fi,  or other way? What was the connect mode of mobile? Tether, Mass storage, or other specific settings?you installed specific softwares related with mobile phone on your computer? When the problem happened, you were importing files from network, or local disk, or mobile device? What was the file type you tried to import, and what is your mobile model? Thanks a lot.

    Thanks,

    Emily

Hi bailey 21, this thread is for the importing crash when a mobile is being connected with computer. I suggest you can open a new post for your issue then we can follow it easily.

    Thanks,

    Emily

Actaully Bridge, the original post had nothing to do with a mobile being connected.  I am having the same crash problem with no mobile attached..
