catalog in use by other application

Win 7 locked up as LR 4 was opening.'after reboot, I get message that Catalog is in use by another application.

 

How can I 'fix' this or must I rename and recover from BU?

    In the directory where you Lightroom catalog is stored there is likely a file named the same as your catalog with the extension .LOCK. This file is preventing you from opening your catalog. Delete this LOCK file and things should work as normal.

    Thanks,  I had a few minutes and just re-searched the forums using other terms and found the answer under term 'locked'
