Elements 8 won't recognize *.RAF files (RAW files produced by my Fuji HS-20-EXR) - i get a message that it does not support that file type. Elements 8 supposed to be able to process RAW files, so how do i get my version to recognize Fuji's propriatary RAW file?
Since the camera raw plugin your need (6.4) is not compatible with pse 8, you could use the 7.1 DNG Converter to convert your files to dng copies which will then open in pse 8.

I downloaded and installed Adobe's 7.1 DNG Converter but it won't recognize .RAF files. When i click on "Select Folder" in 7.1 DNG Converter, the folder displayed does not show any of the .RAF files. Is there a procedure for adding the .RAF file format to 7.1 DNG Converter?Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2012 17:59:30 -0600

I opened "Adobe DNG Converter" then I clicked on "Select Folder". I navigated to my folder where I store all my .RAF files but no .RAF files are visible (your converter program calls up a "Windows Explorer" like screen displaying other subfolders in that folder, but no .RAF files are visible). I can see the .RAF files (but not icons) when i look directly in "Windows Explorer" so I know they are there, but in your program I do not get an option to select any of them - they are not visible. I also have Silkypix's RAW converter program, which does recognize and convert the .RAF files, and if I convert an .RAF file to .RAW in that program, and put the .RAW file in the same directory, I can see the .RAW files in that directory, in the "Windows Explorer" part of your program, so it seems that your program is not recognizing the .RAF files.

The most common cause of that is opening the folder you select. In other words just click on the folder itself to select it and converter will read the pictures inside. http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-4632365-22 4312/399-600/Untitled-1.png

here is a screen photo - the panel on the left is windows explorer, with many .RAF files showing. i clicked on your button "select folder" in adobe DNG converter and i got the panel on the right, showing the same directory - notice that no .RAF files are available for selection.

I don't see your screenshot, but you shouldn't open the folder. If you actually try to open the folder by clicking on the folder containing the raw files in the Explorer Bar, then you'll get the message you got.
Click on the folder containing the folder with the raw files in the Explorer Bar then click on the folder containing the raw files in the view pane.
For example, below the folder named fujifilm_finepix_hs20exr contains the raw files to convert, but that folder is located in the Public Pictures folder, so in the explorer bar click on
Public Pictures, then in the view pane just a single click on the fujifilm_finepix_hs20exr folder and then pressing Select is all it should take.
i sent you an attachment .jpg, not a screenshot. and i did not open the win exp folder until after i clicked on "select folder" in your converter program. do you have a set of instructions or a help provision for the converter program?

i didn't understand - i attached the photo in hotmail. but this problem may be a basic lack of knowledge on my part, so do you know of a set of instructions, or a tutorial, on how to basically use the converter? at present i am able to limp along using the silkypix converter (so i am not shut down) but i still want to have the benefits of the 'universal' format the adobe program offersDate: Mon, 20 Aug 2012 01:34:00 -0600
