ever since updating to CS6 my Indesign behaves strangely when handling pictures:
Once I duplicate a picture, it seems to loose some of it's saturation, thereby noticably looking "lighter".
This happens with copy/cut paste and alt+drag as well.
Re-embedding the pictures helps, but with 500+ pictures in a document, this is rather painful.
Unfortunately, the phenomenon persists all the way into the final pdf I export for printing.
I tested with both CMYK and RGB Jpgs, Psd & Tifs, with Effects (Multiply) on them and without, the same behavior everywhere.
Here's a screenshot of a duplicated image on top of the original:
I really don't know what it could be, any ideas?
My System is a 15" MacBook Pro with the latest version of Lion running (no Mouintain Lion), and the CS6 is up to date.
Thanks a lot for any input!
No that's not true, just a result of me describing sloppily.
Images in this document came in either by drag and drop from bridge or by drawing a rectangle frame and the hitting command d, thereby placing the image.
Both behave the same.
Peter: Interesting, it indeed is restricted to this file, same picture in a new file no problems whatsoever. This is a "legacy" file originally created in CS 5.5, now saved as CS 6. However in CS 5.5 this behaviour didn't appear.
Olfarr: 2nd duplicate stays the same as first one, not lighter than that. Reboot didn't help, synchronizing din't help either.
It's a color profile mismatch. It happened to me too when I created a file in 5.5, but then had to go to a machine with only 5.
To stop it from happening, go to edit > color settings and click advanced mode. You'll now get the option under Color Management Policies to select 'Preserve Embedded Profiles' for both RGB and CMYK. Doing that should fix it.
Interesting. I also use CS6 and don't have this effect. Tried "Duplicate" function and dragging with Alt key pressed. No change.
Perhaps this is due to my document's transparency is CMYK and the images/photos are also. But even if I place a RGB photo, duplicating does not change anything.
I managed to resolve this (I think!). It was to do with 'Colour Settings' in the 'Edit Menu'. I switched my 'Colour Management Polices' to 'Preserve Embedded Profiles' and clicked 'Profile Mismatches' to 'Ask When Opening'.
