How do you establish the correct answer for multiple choice quizzes? Example .... I create a question with A, B or C responses. How do I tell Captivate that C is the correct response? How does this affect things if I want to shuffle answers for those who want to take the quiz again? I am in pretest mode. Thanks to anyone who may be able to help.
That was so obvious, I thought it was too easy! Thanks for confirming that. Next question: if I want a custom response to an incorrectly chosen answer, i.e., "The correct answer is B. Please go to the section on moon phases for more information," do I create custom variables for each response I want to do that for?
i am trying to use Click Boxes as questions and my LMS is not recognizing the question text becuase it is setup as a caption. How can i get Click Box style to report as a question? I am able to report the reponses, just not record the question.
I'm aftraid I don't understand your question.
Click boxes are just interactive objects that register a user click as a Success or a Failure. You can set the click box Success to record a score to the quiz by tickign the option in the Properties tab > Reporting section > Include in Quiz. You set the points allocated to it there too.
You cannot set an object style to be reported as a question. Styles are related more to formatting, not functionality.
Perhaps check one of my blog posts:
Is it possible to set multiple hotspots on a single question slide? For example, I want them to click on the three navigation areas on the page. They don't need to be clicked in order, just all selected before they submit.
Yes you can do this with a normal Hot Spot quiz question slide. To do this on a normal Captivate slide using click boxes requires the addition of an Interactive Master widget to combine the Success/Failures of all click boxes and report a single success/failure to the quiz.
Creating a SCORM2 quiz with 75 Multiple Choice and TF graded questions. No feedback, but want to allow user to go back and change answers before submitting the exam. Can't get the Clear button to work when returning to the question using the back button (before submitting at end) . What quiz and question settings should I use?
No. The default behaviour is to force the user to select an answer.
For this type of question I prefer to set the Answer Type to Drag and Drop. That way all of the answers are set, but just randomised in order. I think this makes the question much more engaging and easier to understand. Just add instruction text to let the user know they need to drag and drop objects into the correct sequence.
"Each quiz question has Success and Failure captions. Just enter the relevant feedback text in those captions" . I have found this caption text that applies to all quiz questions, but what about for individual question feedback? (not per option within a question)
I think you are misunderstanding. You may have found the section in the Quiz Settings where you can specify the default text that appears in Success and Failure feedback captions. But you are expected to modify this text as needed for each individual quiz question slide. The text that appears in the feedback captions is editable on each slide. So go to a quiz slide, select the text in the caption, and edit it to say what you want.
"In the General area:
Toggle between Survey and Graded options using the Type list.
(If type is Graded) Edit the number adjacent to Points (1 t0 100) to specify the score a user gets by answering a question correctly."
I cannot see the word "Points" or any place next to it to edit a number. The selected question is a Graded type, but the only fields in the General section of the Quiz Properties are: Type, Answers, Shuffle Answers, Multiple Answers, and Numbering. How to get the Points field to show?
I am using trial version of Captivate 6.
Fill in the blanks questions are always graded as wrong - even if the answer is correct.
Also, if I setup the quiz to allow review as well as infinite attempts and that user should pass this quiz to continue and the user chooses to review the quiz then there is no way to retake the quiz!!
OK then the only thing I have left to suggest is that you try opening a new blank project file and insert a couple of similar quiz questions to see if they work properly outside your problem project.
If that works, ditch the offending quiz slides and insert new ones. Perhaps they became corrupted.
I was working on a dummy project and fill in the blanks were the only objects in the project. I also tried by adding a PPT and recording a video just in case. Fill in the blanks do not seem to work anywhere. The problem of not being able to retake the quiz also remains.
Do either of these features work fine at your end?
Hi I have a question about Short Answer Questions.
I can only create one correct answer. The instructions above say to click the + button to add more than one correct answer but there is no + button. I'm using Captivate 6. Can you please help?
