When attempting to open Captivate 5.5, I receive the error, 'Localized resource files for this application could not be loaded...'
I also receive Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error: 'Runtime error! ... This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way...'
I uninstalled and reinstalled with the same outcome. My install directory was not on my C:\ drive; it is installed on my D:\ drive - a partition of C:\.
Any help you can lend would be appreciated.
Do you have any details around the error message, when click on "Click here for Details".
Also, Has this ever launched successfully ? If yes, were that any changes / installation made to your machine?
Could you try to rename the preference fodler as it has information regarding Workspace elements that might have gone corrupted.
Then try relaunching again.
Also, could you also verify if you issue is similar as discussed here--
The error messages are OK only, so no details are available.
Captivate launched successfully the last time I used it (a few months ago.) When I found these problems I uninstalled and reinstalled, hoping that would fix it.
Since I don't have a lot of space on my C:\ partition (4 GB), I opted to install it on my D:\ partition (110GB). During the install I changed the default directory to D:\Adobe. The install was successful (I think.)
I launched Captivate, and thought all was well until an error was thrown that I was lacking disk space, and to clear out my cache. So I got into Preferences -> General -> and cleared the cache. From that point forward, I started getting the errors listed above.
I took your suggestion to rename the Preference folder (I don't have that one. I tried Workspace, instead.)
Thanks for your help.
Well, I figured it out. I was unaware there was a Project cache folder on my C:\ drive from previous use. I deleted all the objects in the folder, and it freed up about 3 GB of space. Now I'm good to go!
