Using EL 9 in Vista, I have hundreds of missing files that will reconnect. Help please. Myystic45
"Will reconnect"? I assume they will not. Have these files been renamed, moved, or deleted? It is one of these things happening to the file outside of Elements Organizer which causes the files to become disconnected. Reconnection is merely telling PSE the file's current name and/or location, or allows you to delete the file reference from the database to match the current state of the file.
BrettN, Hi, Thanks for your email. You assume correctly they did not connect. I did the reconnect through to the end and got a message saying all was conneted? there was a lot still showing the ? mark. I see you suggest deleting the file from the database. please explain how thats done and is it posible to do more than one at a time. These files are in two different catalogs will complicate the procedure? Myystic45
If the file has been deleted from the hard drive, we would want to remove it's reference from the catalog database.
To remove all files that are currently disconnected, go to File > Reconnect > All Missing Files. When you get the window that shows the search in progress, click the Browse button. In the Reconnect Missing Files dialog, click the Select All button on the left under Files Missing from Catalog. Once all the files have been selected click the Delete from Catalog button right above the Select All button.
