Cannot Reinstall PSE 8.0

I just switched to an SSD hard drive.  Cannot reinstall Photoshop Elements 8, even though I have my original s/w disk.  Hangs at the point where it says "Preparing to Install"...

 

Any guidance?

    Try copying the contents of the disk to the desktop and try to install from there.

    Thx, I tried that, but to no avail.  Same end game.   I've even used MacKeeper (yesterday) to delete the prior version from the hard drive, thinking that might be confusing the install app in some way.  No help.  Is it possible there is a Plist I need to delete somewhere?
