Missing Hidden Tools

My hidden tools appear to be missing.  When I click the triangles next to tools that should have hidden tools, I only see the name of the tool that is currently pictured.  For example, when I click the arrow next to the text tool icon, I only see "Horizontal Type Tool" listed.  Instead of the lasso tool, I see the magnetic lasso icon and when I click that corresponding triangle, I only see the option for the magnetic lasso tool.  Where are the rest of the hidden tools?  I tried to use the "reset all tools" option, but nothing changed.  I am using a Mac.  I've used Elements on a PC before, so I now how it used to work.  That was an older version.  I have Elements 10.

    You don't need to aim for the little arrows, just left click and hold on the various tool icons in the toolbox that have those little arrows.

    Sometimes it takes a split second for the hidden menu to appear.

     

    If your seeing the menu, but only the selected tool is shown, could you post a screenshot?

    It sounds like your seeing just the tooltips.

    Thanks, you answered my question.  I'm not very good with this program as you can see.  I appreciate the help very much!
