An old problem: Text doesn't show in AE cs3?

I'm a beginner in AE, just downloaded a free template from http://www.freeaetemplates.com/

I try to change the text and logo in the template, but the text just doesn't show:((. Click Reset Character and change current Time Indicator doesn't work. I also installed the missing fonts in the template but still no luck. Could you please help me pointing out my problem and how to fix this?

 

My OS info: Window 7, Adobe After Effect CS3.

    Layer Styles? A "bad" font on the system? Matte/ transparency options? Effects? OpenGL?

    There are my layer info:

    + Opacity; 100%.

    + Layer Styles: Lots of layer style exists, I just "Remove All" but this doesn't help.

    + Color: Ok, color is white and background is black.

    + Opengl: turned off already.

    + Effects: No effect there.

    + "Bad font": don't really understand it, but I think Reset Character make it OK, right?

    And where can I check matte/opacity options, please:D?

    One more thing: Is there a text animator for opacity/ scale? Hit U or UU to revela all animated/ changed parameters...

    You are aware that this is effectively hiding whatever text there is? Turn it off/ animate it differently/ move to anotehr time in the comp.

    Try this first. Turn on transparency grid at the bottom of your composition window. It's the icon that looks like a mineature checkerboard just to the left of the Composition Camera selector. If you don't see any text declect all layers, select the type tool and type a few characters in the comp window. If you still don't see anything make sure that your previews are not set to wireframe. If you do see text then there's a setting you're missing or a keyframe you're behind in the timeline. Look there.
