I'm using InDesign CS5 on OSX 10.8. I've tried to export multiple pdfs from various files and have this problem every now and then (Which happend on both OSX 10.7 and 10.8). The empty pdf file will start as if nothing is wrong and then just disappear after about 10-15 seconds. No error dialog pops up or anything.
One file in particular is about 50 pages long and when I've exported 1 or 2 select pages, it works fine somehow, just refuses to export the file in its entirety.
All of my software is up to date. Does anybody have any solutions?
Forget 10 page increments. Try two halves. Divide any half that wont work in half again, and so forth. You'll be down to a singel page in only a few steps or it will just work in chunks (that does happen -- failures with entire docs, but smaller chunks work fine). If it works in chunks, use them and recombine in Acrobat Pro.
I had to give in a just try your method, Peter.
The culprit was Acrobat's "convert to grayscale" function in Preflight. I had several pdfs that I had converted to grayscale this way and InDesign was inable to create a pdf of the pages that had said pdfs on them - literally almost every single one was a problem.
I have no idea why all of a sudden this is an issue as I've been doing this for a couple of years now and never had an issue until now. At least I got it working again though. Thanks everyone!
